LEAGUE FOOTBALL.
INTER-ISLAND MATCH DOUBTFUL. The New Zealand Rugby League's meeting last night decided to defer the matter of holding an inter-island match on September 24 at Auckland pending communication with Otago regarding the financial position owing to depleted resources. Delegates considered it impossible for the Council to control the game, and Otago was the only League prepared to assist financially. Until advice is received from the Australian Control Board the itinerary for the English team’s New Zealand tour in 1928 could not be discussed.
