A lad 18 years of age was sentenced to two years Borstal treatment by the Gisborne Magistrate’s Court yesterday on charges of obtaining money by fraud, his name being suppressed out of consideration to his widowed mother and sister. The Whakatane Maori prophets of a certain religious sect declared last Friday’s storm to be a Divine protest against filming the life of Te Kooti. After considerable delay owing to the adverse weather a thrilling reproduction of the defence of Mill Farm was enacted on Tuesday under ideal conditions on the actual location. Hundreds witnessed the spectacle from the hills.
