Reference was made to a scare in Kilbirnie. Wellington, recently mentioned in telegrams. When a man named Perry was before the Court yesterday, counsel for the accused said be understood several charges, including one of arson were to be made against his client.’ Perry would plead guilty to theft, but not to any charges involving arson. The police said there had been n,n epidemic of burglary anil arson in the district and on that ground asked for substantial bail, as feeling had been running high. The Magistrate fixed the amount at £4OO and a surety of equal dimensions.
