OMAKERE SCHOOL
PROVISION FOR ENLARGEMENT. NO APPPLICATION BEFORE DEPARTMENT. (Special to “Tribune.”) Parliament Buildings Aug. 25. Sir George Hunter recently asked the Minister for Education whether he will make provision for the enlargement of the Omakere School building which is now greatly overcrowded. The Hon. R. A. Wright replied that there is no application before the Department for a grant for additions to Omakere School, nor is the case included in the Board’s list of projected works. The school has a floor space of 378 square feet. “According Io the Department's records the average attendance for the June quarter was 27,” said the Minister. “In the absence of an uppli cation from the Board I am unable to take auy action.”
