LABOURER’S FAILURE. David Ivan Thompson, labourer, of Frederick street, Hastings, who recently filed a petition in bankruptcy, owes £202 11/3 to unsecured creditors, whilst his assets are nil. In his personal statement bankrupt stated that he had been residing in Hawke’s Bay, Napier and Hastings, for about five years, and had been in charge of the saleyards at Stortford Lodge since September, 1925. Prior to coming to Hawke’s Bay he was in business in Hawerg, and sold out, leaving £253 10/- of the purchase money on a promissory note. The slump came, and the business was wound up, and his promissory note was worthless. All his debts were West Coast debts, and if the £253 10/had been paid to him, they would have been paid. As it was not paid he could not pay them. He was a married man, and had to support a wife and six children, the eldest being ten years old and the youngest four months. It had taken him all his time to provide for their wants. One of his creditors had sued him, and another had threatened to'do so, thus leaving his no choice but to file. He regretted he was quite unable to make an offer.

Tho unsecured creditors in the estate are:—P. Tinney, Patea, £ll9 0/3, Patea Farmers’ Co-op. Freezing Co., Ltd., £lO 14/6, Charles C. Oldham, Patea, £72 16/6.

To unsecured creditors Danied Liddington, mill hand, of Puketitiri, owes £92 6/6, but he has no assets with which to meet his creditors. The unsecured creditors in the estate are:—
