IMPROVED CONDITIONS. (British Official Wireless.) Rugby. August 22 Distinct reports show an improvement in trade conditions in many of the most important industrial areas of Great Britain. A notable example is the marked improvement during the past few months on the Clyde, where the shipbuilding tonnage now under construction is bl) per cent, greater than a year ago. and where, as in many other districts. unemployment figures are showing a steady decline. Good reports come from Manchester. Leeds. Bradford, Bolton, Sheffield, and other great manufacturing towns of Northern England. Prospects in the motor-car industry are hopeful, and Manchester reports record exports of electrical generating njant. The unemployment figures for rhe important area covered by the northwestern division of the Ministry of Labour employment bureau, which includes Manchester. Liverpool, and other great industrial centres, are to-day 197,000, as against 338.000 in the corresponding month last year.
