ROMANTIC ENGAGEMENT
PEER AND PLUMBER’S DAUGHTER The following i, from a recent issue of the London “Daily Mail”:— “An engagement is announced be* tween Lord Trevor, of Brynkinalt, Chirk, Vrtxham, who is 63 year, of age, and Mis, Phillis Sims, aged 23, the daughter of Mr and Mrs ]. A. Sims, of Kirton-in-Lindsey, Lincilnshire. The young woman’s mother makes the announcement. “Lord Trevor is the third Baron Trevor, and succeeded to the title in 1923. Formerly he was a captain in the 3rd Battalion of the Royal Welsh fusiliers, and from 1897 to 1904 he was assistant private secretary and Aide-de-camp to the Earl of Ranfurly. During the war he served in France with the British Red Cross. “Miss Sims, who is tall and handsome, is the daughter of a working plumber, and her parents live in a creeper-covered cottage in the centre of the town upon ‘The Hill,’ as Kirton-in-Lindsay is called by Lincolnshire people. Miss Sims left Kirton eight years ago for the Sheffield Infirmary, and was a nurse there for some years. Afterwards she spent some time in a Manchester nursing home, and from there went to a nursing home in PorChester Square. It was there that she nursed the Hon. Leila Hill-Trevor, sister of Lord Trevor, through a sen. ous illness. “To a ‘Daily Mail’ representative Mrs Sims said: ‘Miss Trevor took such an interest in my daughter that she asked her to return with her to Lord Trevor’s home in Wales. While she wes there Lord Trevor fell ill, ana Maa Sim, nursed him. A great friendship sprang •ip between the two dining this period, and ic has now ended in an engagemerV ”
