Disapproval of the proposal to abolish education boards was expressed by the Canterbury Education Board on Friday. In the course of a discussion it was stated the Canterbury board expended £68,345 on buildings £35,349 under other heads, and tho cost of administration worked out at 1$ per cent. It was claimed that these administration costs would not be saved if the board were abolished, as other officers elsewhere would have to be fully ‘employed doing the work now done by the board’s staff.
