Patrons of the Municipal pictures should note that the theatre is in process of being painted, and scaffolding has had to be erected in the auditorium. As a result the view of those sitting on the wings of the dress circle is partly blocked. Anyone booking seats should make sure of getting them in the centre section. The management realises the inconvenience caused, but this should lie more than compensated for bv the later improved appearance of Ihe theatre. EARTHQUAKE INCIDENT. The recent earthquake was responsible for an amusing incident. Three men were smoking, when the shock came. One dropped his cigarette w'ith —well—surprise; one found himself chewing the end of his; while the third went on complacently puffing away as though nothing untoward had happened. “You fellows are suffering from nerves,” the latter remarked. “Most mon do nowadays,” said one of the others. “Too much smoking!” “No fear!
