“NEW ZEALAND v. ENGLISH MADE CAPS.”
(To the Editor). Sir, —It seems to me that a “mountain has been made out of a molehill” in this controversy. Probably the wool for these caps was grown in New Zealand. Even when the caps are made in New Zealand, we import the material and linings from, 1 hope, the Mother Country. The making is the only point in question, and the made cap from England pays duty, so we get most of the cost back. I wonder if your correspondents have N.Z.-made goods throughout their households. Can they sav they have nothing made in Germany, Japan, or America? As long as we all stick to British or Dominion goods, all is well. Yours, etc., “BE CONSISTENT.” Hastings, 20/8/27-
