PLUNKET SOCIETY. . (Own Correspondent.) The efforts of the commitee of the local branch of the L’luuket Society to raise funds for current expenses have been crowned with success. At the social held in the Town Hall on Wednesday night between £35 and £49 was netted. The whole of the members and their friends worked hard hard to make the evening an outstanding event. A large number of guests came from Waipawa Waipukuruu and the surrounding’ district. In the main hall dancing was indulged in while in the supper rooms were Held bridge and euchre, etc. There was also a very well patronised cake and sweet stall. The following were winners of the various competitions: Balo'on dance, Mrs Woods and Mr Stephens; spot waltz, Miss Ebbett and Mr Spencer (Waipawa); bridge, Mrs J. Tod, Miss Howard, Miss Al. White (Hastings) and Mr A. G. Clark; euchre, Airs Ebbett (VVaipawa), Messrs Woods, W. Osborne and A. Osborne; hidden number, Mr J. Witlierow (Waipawa); candle lighting, Air Gordon Williams; cork spearing, Mr Bckley; peas in bottle Air J. Aliller (1239); string in bottle’ Miss M. How’ard; dol’s name, Airs Harry Carlson; cake guessing (IHUs soz), Mr McCroskery (Waipukurau); bag number. Miss Waller. On Wednesdays next, the 24th inst, Mr Manner, of the W.ii.A., has consented to deliver a lecture under the auspices of the local Debating Club. On Thursday afternoon, the school' football tie was played off on the Keereatoin Ground, resulting in a win for the Waipawa boys by 20 points to nil. The ' Visitors were a much heavier team and used their back to much better advantage.
