SUPREME COURT
NAPIER SESSIONS ALLEGED FALSE PRETENCES CHARGE AGAINST F. BURGE. At the Supreme Court in Napier this morning the case in which Frank Burge was charged with, that on February 11 last, at Hastings, with intend to defraud, he did obtain from C. and A. Odlin, merchants, of Wellington, the sum of £79 14/7 by means of false pretences, to wit, by falsely representing that the said Frank Burge and Oliver Burge had supplied them with 40,982 feet of timber valued at £612 0/2, whereas it is alleged that the supply was only 36,307 feet of timber valued at £532 5/7. Mr. H. O’Leary appeared for the accused while Mr. J. Morling was crown prosecutor. A plea of not guilty was entered by the defence. The following jury was empanelled: Messrs. J. P. YVhelan (foreman), F. R. Sweetapple, A. J. B. Cuff, R. W Parker, F. W. Brewer, J B. Cumberworth, T. H. Atkinson. Clarence Horne, G. C. Hannah, J. F. Miller, W. J. Read and J, J. Smith.
