HOCKEY.
KARORI (2) v. CAMBRIDGE (1). The above teams met on Cornwall Park yesterday afternoon in perfect weather, when one of the fastest games played this season was seen, both teams going hard for a win. The game began with very fast and open play, and good defence work was put on by both sides. From a hard hit by Grenside, A. Green got control of the ball and scored one ol the easiest goals of the season. Again play became defensive, and then from a good passing rush, and passing by M. Grenside, Spence shot a .well deserved goal. Shortly after this Mitchell, irom a ready good pass, scored a goal. On the change over, the game became very hard and fast, and both teams were often put on the defence. Both sides missed chances of scoring through being over-eager. On the call of time the score was 2 to 1 in Karori’s favour. For the losers B. Grenside, Snodsill, Flowers, Shaw, Plummer and Scott worked hard. For the winners French, M. Grenside, Spencer, Terrace and Harris were the pick.
