NEWS AND NOTES. (Own Correspondent.) At the fancy dress dance held in St. Mary’s Hall on Friday evening, under the auspices of the Ladies Arlington Rebecca Lodge, prizes were offered for the best and most original costumes, Mr. P, R. Smyrk’s awards going to Miss E. Tulley (Question), and K. Durham (representing Morning Bath). A very pleasant supper was dispersed. The following is a list of the costumes:—Misses K. Granger 'Old English), M. Caskie (Blacg Cat). G Hughes (Eastern Lady), K Dorham (Morning Bath), L. Sullivan (Highland). Miss E. Tullsv (Question). G. Ebbett (Spanish Lady), Mrs I. Scott (Black and White). The executive of the Waipukurau Operatic Society met on Friday ever, ing last. The secretary presented a preliminary balance sheet which showed a heavy loss on the season. The date of the annual meeting was fixed for Monday, the 29th inst. It was decided to stage a comedy before ’Xmas and the selection committee were authorised to arrange details.
