WIRELESS WONDERS.
UNIQUE DISCOVERY. CRYSTAL SET AS A TRANSMITTER. Christchurch, Augil6. According to the “Star’s” wireless writer, what is believed to be a unique discovery in wireless transmission and reception has been made by Mr. Frank N. Sinclair, of Scarborough, Sumner. Shortly put, the discovery is that without the aid of batteries or .the ordinary microphone, a common crystal set with a pair of phones acts as a wireless transmitter when coupled to an aerial which is placed close to the aerial of a valve receiver. The valve set’s aerial system was picked up by induction from the crystal set’s aerial, and music and speech delivered close to the crystal set phones in a house 120 feet awav were reproduced by the neighbouring valve set’s loud speaker.
