The most reliable interpretation of recent events in Moscow is probably that transmitted by the “Berliner Tageblatt’s” correspondent, who says “The fight for Lenin’s crown will continue at present inside the Communist party, but on much more equal terms. Trotsky’S army has been heartened by success and reinforcement and Stalin’s has been correspondingly weakened. Trotsky is undoubtedly the abler of fhe two, but Stalin, as more moderate, will make a stronger appeal to the masses when the time comes, as it undoubtedly will, for the conflict to be carried on outside the party.”
