The Havelock North Fire Brigade intends installing an electric siren in place of the present firebell, whicn is not easily distinguished from the several bells m the village. It is hoped to try out the siren to-mglit at the fire station. The Australasian Trades Union Council executive resolved to affiliate with the Hankow Pan-Pacific Secretariat, established at Hankow. A Labour Conference was held in May last but postponed decision on the question of affiliation with Moscow or Holland for the time being, while resolving to keep in touch with 'he Pan-Pacific sub-committee.
