ELECTORAL BOUNDARIES.
COMMISSION’S FINAL DECISIONS. NEW ELECTORATES. Wellington, Aug. 12. The final decisions of the Electoral Boundaries Commission were published in a supplementary Gazette today. A few changes have been made as a result of objecting petitions. In Auckland district there is a new electorate called “Auckland Suburbs” which appears to comprise the greater part of the old Eden electorateThe new Eden, when the boundaries were provisionally published, was called Auckland South. The new electorate which was provisionally named “Mercer” is renamed “Hauriki. Ohinemuri is done away with, being absorbed in the surrounding electorates.
Tauranga is somewhat amended. The name “New Plymouth” is applied to Taranaki stands; the abolition of Ashburton is confirmed and the new electorate is being called “Mid-Canterbury” not Ellesmere. Central Otago has been preferred to Otago Central.
