Frisco to Brisbane
Dole Prize Flight. POSTPONED THREE DAYS. GILES A DOUBTFUL STARTER. (By Cable —Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Received 13, 8.55 a.m.) New York, Aug. 12. Giles states that he will fly tomorrow from Detroit for San Francisco and still plans to enter for the Dole Prize flight to Honolulu; but in view of the fact that he has several times announced that he will take off en route to the Pacific coast and as it is understood his aeroplane has never yet been flown or tested, it is considered doubtful whether he will carry out his plans.—(A. and N.Z.) An overnight New York cable stated that it was announced from Oakland that the entrants for the Dole flight unanimously agreed to-night to postpone the take-off until Tuesday at noon. ST. LOUIS ENTRANT KILLED. (Received 13, 10.55 a.m.) New York, Aug, 12. At Los Angeles, Arthur Rogers, the St. Louis entrant for the Honolulu race, was killed when his machine crashed in the first trial flight.—(A. and N.Z.)
