CAMP IN HASTINGS.

SUPPLIES OF STORES. MR H. M. CAMPBELL’S PLEA. (Special to “Tribune.”) Parliamentary Buildings, Aug. 13. In the House of Representatives yesterday, Mr H. M. Campbell (Hawke’s Bay) stated that a military camp was to be held at Hastings shortly, and in view of the fact that Hastings was one of the 1 cheapest places in the Dominion he asked the Minister of Defence if arrangements would be made to purchase stores for tn* camp there instead of at Wellington or elsewhere, and then having to rail them at considerable expense to the camp. The Hon R. F. Rolleston replied that all contracts for military camp supplies were arranged through the Stores Control Board. When tenders were called local supplies were given an opportunty of quoting. Transport charges on the goods tendered for from other places were always added io the tender price so that a comparison could be made. He suggested that the proposed tenderers in Hastings should get in touch with the Stores Control Board at once and their names would be put on the list.
