HAVELOCK NORTH.

TOWN BOARD MEETING SHORT ORDER PAPER. The monthly meeting of the Havelock North Town Board was held last evening Present:—Messrs J. Phillips (chairman), S. Graham. C. Macdonald J. J. Nimon. and ,T E. Heenan. Mr C. E. Stratton was granted leave of absence. A vote of condolence was passed to the relatives of the late Mr E C. Coates.

Correspondence was dealt with ss follows: —

The Minister of Labour. Wellington. wrote appreciating the efforts of the Town Board in finding work for twelve unemployed men. —Received.

Mr J. Wiggins asked that the footpath in front of his propertv at Lindsev road be lowered.—To be informed the footpath will be done as opportunity offers. The Havelock North Fire Brigade asked that a load of shingle be put in front of the station. —Request granted. The Department of Health. Wellington. wrote asking if the Town Board wished the district to come under the Plumbing and Drainage Regulations as supplied.—Agreed to. The Hawke’s Bav Automobile Association’s secretary, writing from Napier said that travelling motorists were complaining continually of wandering stock on public roads, and urged that the Impounding Act be rigidly enforced, and that grazing rights on public roads be withdrawn in the interests of public safety —To be informed that the ranger has been notified and that he has done good service in he disrict lately. The Hawke’s Bav Electric Power Board’s secretary wrote that six people on the Te Mata road had been notified to have their installations brought up to the standard of the new regulations gazetted on the 7th July 1927, and that they could te supplied with power at a day's notice.—All users of electric current will have to firin'- their installations up to requirements as soon as oossible. The matter was left in liie hands of the Electrical Committee, with power to act. The offer of Mr Leicester to canvass the district for subscriptions towards the unemployed fund was accepted. The following accounts were nassad for payment:—General £268 15s Dd. cemetery £lB 17s 6d.
