AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIPS. PLAY IN AUCKLAND. Auckland, Aug. 12. E. W. Warren, Auckland, four times champion, met W. Bronley, Civil Service. Wellington, champion, at the Federal Club to-night, in the New Zealand amateur billiard championship. Warren scored rapidly at first, reaching S(X) in an hour and 35 minutes. He then took a quarter of an hour to make 23 and forged ahead of his opponent, who played consistent, all round billiards hut lacks knowledge of the finer points of the game. At 500 Warren led by 210. and the game ended: Warren 636. Bronley 430- Warren’s best breaks were: 60. 30. 37, 35. 32. 41, 45 and 29 unfinished; average 11.5. Bronley: 34. 36, 28. and 25.
