A POPULAR REAPPOINTMENT. MR. A. C. FAWCETT. Alter the Hastings Borough Cuund meeting last mgnt, the members 3. ent into committee to make the final sciecton from Hie candidates tor the mfices of inspector of buildings, lealtfi and mol or regulations, and ol Jie inspectorship or nuisances and traffic. in, the senior inspectorship (building, health and motor regulations) the 20 applicants had been reduced to two, one of whom was Mr. A. C. Fawcett, who was senior inspector for 12 years before the re-organisation of the department had been decided upon. Both candidates appeared, separately, before the Council and were interviewed, with the result that Mr. A. C. Fawcett was re-appointed to the office. JUNIOR APPOINTMENT. In the case of the junior inspectorship (nuisances and traffic), the 97 candidates for the position had been reduced to three, out of which Mr. J. R. Dunnett, who has been assistant traffic inspector in Dunedin, 'vas appointed. Mr. Dunnett is 32 years of age, married, and he arrived in New Zealand from the Old Country six years ago. He fought in the great war. during which be attained the rank of captain.
