The Waipawa Opperatic Society has decided to put on “The Sunshine Girl” as their next production,, and with this in view the initial rehearsal is to be held to-night in the Municipal Theatre. The comedy is a bright and sparkling one of two acts, and the musical numbers very tuneful. The monthly meeting of the Borough Council takes place on Friday even ing. There was a fair number present at the annual meeting of the local branch of the K.S.A. held here recently. The report and balancesheet were adopted, the latter showing a healthy credit, and the report disclosed a membership of 126. A grant of £lO was voted to the Otane Town Board for its relief fund for unemployed soldiers. The meeting stood In silence as a mark of respect to those “Diggers” who have passed away during the year, and the secretary was instructed to forward a letter of sympathy to the widow of these men. The names of those departed are—Messrs Cleary, Mills, Walsh, Casey and Coudcliffe. Officers for the year were appointed with Air C. G. E. Harker re-elected as president, Mr H. C. Collet re-elected vicepresident, and Mr H..T. Limbrick reelected as secretary. The meeting closed with a hearty vote of appreciation of th president’s and secretary’s services during the past year. PROGRESSIVE jISSOCIATION. The monthly meeting, of the above was held on Wednesday when Air D. H. Edwards presided over a fair attendance. The Lands Department wrote as regards the Pourerere Reserve and sumbitting a plan with sections subdivided. The department stressed the difficulty under the present legislation of disposing of residential sec tions and of establishing a preccndeUt, and intimated that the association would be further communicated with.

Mr J. Nairn wrote that he was prepared to lease sections adjoining Pourerere beach !for residential purposes. The secretary was instructed to express tee association’s appreciation of his offer. It was resolved to send a letter to Mr Loten, principal of Te Aute College, expressing regret at the withdrawal of the College football teams from this Sub-union and hoping for a re-consideration. The meeting also expressed apperciation of the pleasant associations with the teams in the past.

Several other matters of an importan nature were discussed including the Dental Clinic. In connection with the latter the meeting expressed disapproval at the Catholic School being denied the services of dental nurses.
