The many friends of Mr E. C. Contes, elecrtician, of Havelock North will regert to hear of his death, which occurred this morning at his home The deceased underwent a serious operation some time ago. but he never fully recovered. He leaves a widow and three children to mourn their loss. In the Supreme Court at New ”lvmouth this morning, Mr Justice MacGregor unveiled portraits of the late Mr Justice Henry Samuel Chapman, and his son. Sir Frederick Chapman, in the presence of a large attendance, the Taranaki Bar having asked his Honour to unveil the portraits. Mr Billing, president of the Law Societv. referred to the great services of Sir Frederick and his father. His Honour, replying, regretted that such valuable nortraits had to be housed’ in an old wooden building, which he hoped would soon be replaced bv a modern fireproof courthouse. —Press Association. A London cable reports the death of Mr Robert Hope Moncric.ff. at the age of 81.
