AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIPS. N.Z. TOURNEY COMMENCES. Wellington, Aug. 10. The New Zealand amateur billiards championship was commenced tonight at the Federal Club. W. N. Tucker defeated J. Spencer, both of the Federal Club. Scores: Tucker 666. Spencer 544. Neither player made a 40 break. E. V. Roberts, holder, Auckland Sports Club, meets P. Devine, Petone W.M.C., to-mor-row night. PENDULUM BARRED. London, Aug. 10. The Billiards Association control council has barred the pendulum stroke after 35 consecutive cannons. —(A. and N.Z.)
