MUNICIPAL. “Across the Pacific” is a melodramatic historical special dealing with the stirring events of the insurrection of Aguinaldo in the Philiopine Islands which followed the Span-ish-American war Monte plays ihe part of a Southern boy who is treacherously robbed of his estate and disgraced by a scandal. He leaves for the Philppine Islands without seeing his sweetheart, at ner father’s suggestion, and l as a private there is instrumental in bringing information from a native girl, by pretending to love her. His sweetheart, who has come to the islands with Tier father, a colonel in the army thinks the affair a real one, and pleads with Monte, but he cannot tell her the truth. The supporting cast consists of Jane Winton, Myrna Loy, Charles Stevens. Tom Wilson, Walter McGrail, Herbert Pryor, Ed. Kennedy, Theodore Lorch, Sojin, Walter Rogers, and Edmund Fortune. “Across the Pacific” comes to the Municipal Theatre to-night for a three-day run. Owing to the nature of the theme the audience is limited to adults only. Several supports are also shown. COSY DE LUXE. We are able now to see and laugh at the funny side of the War. Never has this been presented on the screen with more delightful and hilarious effectiveness than in “Tin Hats. ’ the new Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer picture coming to the Cosy Theatre tonight. “Tin Hats’’ is a riotous yarn jf three soldiers of the Allied Arniv of Occupation, who through no fault cf their own. find themselves in Germany immediately after the Armistice has been signed and in comtnand of a village. This strange trio is played by Conrad Nagel. George Cooper and Bert Roach Most of the laughs of the piece are contributed by Nagel, Cooper and Bert Roach, who make as funny a trio as ever seen on the screen, They bring a laugh whenever they walk in front of the camera Tom O’Brien, fondly remembered as the delightful “Bull’’ in “The Big Parade.” plays the tough sergeant in a manner that would strike fear in the hart of anv recruit, and feelings of warm admiration in every audience. A good programme of main pictures is also shown.
