The borough solicitors wrote stat ing that in connection with Faraday street extension the Public Works Department required a small portion at the corner of Faradav and Carlyle streets (part of the Police Station site) to be dedicated as street before consenting to the laymg-out of the extension of Faradal street. It was necessary that the council consent to this corner beinq dedicated and they enclosed plan, in duplicate, with the consent of the council endorsed thereon for execution.—Authority to affix the seal was given. Th© council was asked by Messrs Barry Bros, to have a storm-water drain constructed to carry away the water from their store situated at the, corner of West Quay and Customhouse Quay, Port Ahuriri.—lt was decided to point out that the council had no control over the locality. A letter .was received from Mr. Jens Pedersen stating that by the direction of a large number of residents he had been deputed to ask the council to allow the public to use the right-of-way situated between Hast, ings street and the Marine Parade, which would be a piece of land on either side of the railway line and shown as a right-ot-way on the borough plan of Napier. The strip of land in question was situated between the council’s leaseholds and the railway houses. The residents, especially around this locality, were most ahxious to have the right-of-way opened, and he trusted the council would see its way to accede to the application.—Referred to the roads committee.
