PARKVALE SCHOOL.
COMMITTEE MEETING. The usual monthly committee meeting was held in the Schoolroom. Present: Messrs. S. Vyner (chairman) C. Ross, T. U’Neill, G. Findlay, A. Fawcett, S. Masters, H. Ribbands (secretary). Apologies for absence were received from Messrs. Gilbert McKay and H. Cooper. The headmas'ter (Mr. A. E. Day) was also present. It was deended to hold the school fancy dress ball in the Assembly Hall on Wednesday, August 24th, and a meeting of the mothers of the children will be held in the school tomorrow afternoon to arrange for the provision of the supper. The roll for July was 368, but the average attendance was only 327 on account of sickness. With the finer weather the attendance has already come back to normal.
The school shop, held in July, resulted in a nett profit of about £55, which, considering the tempestuous state of the weather on which it was held, was distinctly good.
