The Northern Colliery proprietors of N.B.W. have decided on an alt. round increase of sixpence a ton ia the price of coal from Monday when the selling price at Newcastle dyke will be: For large 25/6, urnscreened 24/-, small 20/-.

Replying to a question in tbs House of Commons as to what makes of typewriters were used in the Dominions’ Marketing Board and Overseas Settlement Offices, the Ron. L. M. Amery said they were mostly foreign. He would expect the Marketing Office to have British machines in accordance with its policy, and would endeavour to instal British ones when the time arrived.

At Winnipeg three men of the Manitoba aerial photographic survey were killed near Fairford. They fell, in some unexplainable manner, a thousand feet from their machine. Tho names of the dead men are Weaver, Herdley and Wrang. Canada has just received 450,000 dollars reparations from the Dawes* plan. The total paid is nsec 4,500,000 dollars. Sickness which has resulted in the death of several cats in the business portion of Townsville, Queensland, has been diagnosed as plague. No human beings have so rar been affected. Further tests are being made to confirm the diagnosis. Fire in the premises of Moffatt, Kirtue and Company, Palmer street, Wooloomooloo, N.8.W., caused damage amounting to many thousands of pounds to valuable machinery.
