THE SHIELD MATCH.

WIRELESS RECEPTION. VERY CLEAR IN HASTINGS. Tie Hastings Radio Society, at the last moment, decided to make arrangements for the reception of the description of the H.B.—Waira rape Rugby match for the Ranfurly Shield last Saturday, wheu they esloud speakers on the Y.M.C.A. grounds, one outside and one inside the building. The reception was at first interfered with by the action of motors working in the vicinity, but that disturbance was put a stop to, and for ■ the most part the announcement was very clear. There was a collection taken up by the Society in aid of the Mayor’s Unemployment Fund, amounting to £4 0/6 and they received 15/6 from Roachs' collection for a similar purpose. It is expected that, when all expenses are paid the Society will be able to hand oyer £4 to the fund and this amount, with the Government subsidy, will amount to £B. Nearly every radio set in Hastings was going on Saturday to receive the report of the Shield match, and the results, from reports, have been satisfactory. Mr George Tong. Rees’ Radio Service, Roachs' Ltd-, Mr. T. Heighway, Hector Jones Electrical Co., and a dozen other firms and individuals were receiving, and in many cases the public participated in the reception, in large or small groups, according to the situation of the sets in the town.
