RISSINGTON BRIDGES.

HIGHWAYS COUNCIL’S RECOM MENDATION. At to-day's meeting of the Hawke’s Bay County Council, the District Highways Council wrote approving of the erection of a temporary bridge at Rissington, and recommended that the erection of the new high-level bridge be pushed on with. Cr. W. .Turner was of the opinion that the money that was spent on temporary bridges was only being wasted, and after every flood the expense would be recurring. He was strongly in favour of the main bridge being gone on with. Cr. Crosse suggested that the chairman and Cr. Turner should interview the Public Works Department regarding the bridge with a view to proceeding with it at the earliest possible date. He suggested that it might he financed by means of a short-dated loan. The matter was left in the hands of the chairman and Cr. Turner with (lower to act.
