WINTER FARM SCHOOL.

I HASTINGS LECTURES JULY 18 AND 10. The Winter Farm School will this year be held in the Oddfellows’ Hall. Market Street. Hastings, on July 18 and 19. On each day of the fixture a number of valuable lectures and demonstrations will be given by specialists of the New Zealand Department of Agriculture and others of high standing in agricultural circles. Important and interesting topics that will be dealt with include “Soil Fertilisation’’ by Dr D L. Freeman; “Sheep and Wool.’’ by Mr. W. Perry. Masterton; “Wool and Wool Production ’ by J. G. Cook, Government woo! expert; “Sheep Diseases,’’ by Mr. E. E. Elphick, M.R.C.V.S., Government Veterinarian; “Scientific Grassfarming,’’ by Mr. A. H. Cockayne, Director of the Fields Division of the New Zealand Department of Agriculture; “Management of Pigs.’’ by Mr. K W Gorringe, Government expert in’Swine Husbandry; “New Zealand Grasslands.’’ by E. B. Levy. Department of Agriculture. Wellington. and “Training and Working Sheep Dogs.” by W. Whyte. Napier. A new feature in connection with the Farm School this year will be two lectures for women including “Poultry Breeds and Management’’ by Mr. F C. Brown, Government Pourrry Expert, and “Vegetable and Flower Culture,’’ by Mr. W. C. Hyde, of the New Zealand Department of Agriculture. , The lectures and demonstrations, which are free, are ot interest to, others besides those engage® in agriculture and all who are able are invited to be present. A number are interestingly illustrated and no one should fail to attend as many as possible.
