COMMON IDEALS AND RESPONSIBILITIES.
Mr Bruce addressed a capaeity audience at the Canadian Club luncheon on Monday, attended by the Premier, the Kt. Hon. Mackenzie King and members and ex-members of the Cabinet. The Australian Prime Minister was acclaimed with resounding cheers at the beginning and conclusion of his speech, which dealt mainly with the common ideals and responsibilities of the nations of the Empire and the preservation of peace in the common interests ot humanity. He alluded to the unstinted sacrifices of Canada *nJ Australia in the Great War, where they fought for a common cause anif the great principles for which the Empire stood for. He declared :— “Our task now is to give practical effect to the Conference spirit and to make stronger the unity which binds us all together. We. with you, are jealous of our autonomous rights and with you are determined to remain within the Empire.”— (A. and N.Z.)
