Lovers of a good horse and the sporting community generally will have an opportunity next Saturday morning (New year’s Day) of acquiring one or two good thoroughbreds, the occasion being the sale of tho late Mr. Paul Hunter’s horses in training. The lot comprises two well-known performers in Coot and Suspicion, as well as a couple of well-bred two-year-olds. Coot is by the imported Crown Imperial 11 from Tame Duck (imp.), and at the present time is in great buckle, and has engagements on the second dav of the forthcoming Hawke’s Bay meeting. Apart from racing, Coot should be a valuable acquisition as a brood mare. Suspicion, by Mystification from Tattle, has several good performances to his credit over hurdles, is thoroughly sound, and has legs of iron. As Suspicion traces back to Apremont, whose progeny have made history in cross-country racing in New Zealand, there is every reason to predict a great future foi the son of Mystification in forthcoming events The two-yeor-old black gelding by Birkdafe from Pastrol is a particularly fine looking youngster, is at present in training and shows exceptional promise. The Birkdale—Ariom filly is possessed of some of the greatest racing blood that high-class breeding can produce, as Ariom is by Merriwee from that great mare Palaver by Apremont— Flatter. Although there are only four horses to be sold, a considerable amount of racing gear, including saddles etc. will be offered. The sale is to take place at Mr. R. Gooseman’s stables, Charles street, Hastings, at 10 a.m. under the supervision of Messrs Williams and Kettle, Ltd.
