FIRES.
Auckland, Dec. 27. The fertiliser mixing shed nt the Islington freezing works was gutted by fire at ten o’clock yesterday morning an hundreds of tons of fertiliser in the course of preparation were destroyed. The Islington works brigade made a good save and bad the fire well under control by the time an engine from the city station arrived. The fertiliser mixture is subject to spantaneous combustion. and it is thought this was the cause of the fire.
