At a meeting of directors of the Kawarau Company and a committee representing the genera) body of claim-holders, the suggestion that it would be in the interests of nil if an amalgamation of all companies and interests concerned could be brought about, was favourably considered, and a committee, representing both parties, wa a set up to con. aider the details of such a scheme. The feeling was that the under, taking would then be on a m.:ro sound foundation to carry out the necessary works to ensure the success of the scheme. The meeting agreed that the dam was a complete success. It had performed the functions for vhieb it was designed and constructed, and that the volume of water at present passing down Kawarau was duo to melting snow and consequent freshes on the Shotover Arrow, and Nevis river watersheds.
