LEAGUE FOOTBALL.
DR. THACKER’S THREAT.
(Special to “Tribune.") Christchurch, Aug. 23. How Dr. Thacker, president of the Canterbury Rugby Football League, had threatened not to sign a cheque to enable the Canterbury 1 team to visit Auckland, and how he and others threatened to dissociate themselves from the league, was revealed at a special meeting of delegates on Saturday.
A dispute had arisen ,it appeared, over the appointment of a finance manager to go with the team as suggested by the Monica Park board of control, and when the league executive opposed this course Dr. Thacker then made the threat.
Discussion on the matter was taken m camera.
