PANGALOS' WHEREABOUTS UNCERTAIN. RUMOURED ESCAPE. (Received 23, 12.20 p.m.) Athena, Aug. 22. The whereabouts of Pangalos is doubtfql. It was at first reported that a Government aeroplane had frustrated his attempts to escape in another aeroplane, though his wife evaded pursuit. Later it was announced tli.ft. Pangalos was a prisoner aboaiM a warship proceeding to Athens. On the contrary he is aboard the cruiser Pergamos, named bv hie supporters, which the battleship Kilkis asd destroyer Leon will fire upon if she attempts to pass th* Corinth canal. — (Sydney “Sun* 1 cable.) NAVAL ENCOUNTER REPORTED. (Received 23, 12.85 p.m.) London, Aug. 22. “The Times” cuwesposdetit in Athens states that the Kilkis and Leon, assisted by a seaplane squadron, are reported to have engaged the Pergamos, whose commander is sympathetic towards Pangalos’s cause, and the destrover flotilla, commanded bv Captain Kolinlexis, who is unwilling to recognise the revolution (“Times” cable.)
