NAPIER MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
(Before Mr. R. W. Dyer, S.M.) TO-DAY’S CASES. An unusually short list occupied the attention of His Worship this morning and was disposed of in quick time. Ronald Hugh Mclntosh, charged with breaking and entering the premises of the D.S. Ltd., Napier, and stealing the sum of £5 17s 6d was remanded till Monday next. Randolp E. C. Sharp, charged with being on the licensed premises of the Napier Hotel after hours, was fined £2 and 7s costs, in default 14 days’ imprisonment. Charles Percival Cattell, traveller, of Wellington, did not appear to answer the charge of driving a car at a speed dangerous to the public in Emerson street on August 9th. The defendant admitted by letter that he went up Emerson street at a speed of 30 miles an hour. Constable Brown stated that he knocked down a man named White who had since been confined to bed for about a week owing to injuries received.
Cattell was fined £2 and 7s costs and was ordered to pay the sum of £5 as compensation to John White.
