“ROLL DOWNS.”
HEARING DE APPEAL. Wellington, Aug. 20. The general appeal of the proprietors of "roll downs” against the decision of Mr. E. Page, S.M., holding that they were guilty of keeping common gaming houses. Was heard in the Supreme Court yesterday, before the Chief Justice (Hon. C. P. Skerrett). After hearing evidence on lines similar to that given in the lower court, His Honour reserved his decision. Mr. R. Kennedy, with him Mr. Heine, appeared for the ‘‘roll down” proprietors, and Mr. P. S. K. Macassey (Crown Prosecutor) for the police.
