HAVELOCK NORTH.
Nothing is so appealing to parents as the sight of happy children enjoying themselves, and that is the reason why there was such a large attendance of adults at the, children's fancy dress ballTield in the' Village Hall lust night. ' The grand march presented a very fine picture of colour, the costumes ranging from the grotesque to the beautiful, and the various movements were well executed. At the conclusion the young performers were’ heartily applauded. The rest of the evening was spent in dancing, the adults joining in to give the children the “time of their lives.” Supper was provided in the Foresters’ Hall, which had been decorated, and here, too, the children enjoyed themselves. The School Committee and many ladies as well as the school staff, under Mr Speight, worked hard, and the result must have satisfied them, the ball proving such a success. Mr Berry was the M.C., and the music was provided by Mrs A, Webb and Walden’s orchestra. The list ot fancy dresses appeared in our last night’s issue.
