Second Day’s Racing A LARGE ATTENDANCE. STURDEE MUNS STEEPLECHASE, The concluding day of the winter meeting is being held in glorious weather. The going is fairly good ano the racing is very interesting. HAVELOCK HURDLES. Of 150 sovs. One ami a half mile*. I Mr. F. F. Newman’s Matti, Polvdamon—Penroe (A. McDonald), 9.3 T 6 Mr. T. Fraser junr’s Royal Heather (E. A. Dunn) 2 5 Mrs. G. I. Hanlon’s Peshwa (G. Holland). 9.3 3 Also started: 2 Ruby Ring 9.12,3 Mixed Heather 9.5, 7 Theic 9.4. 4 Polyastra 9.0. Polyastra and Ruby Ring led to the first fence, Peshwa and Mixed Heather next. Entering the straight thc first time Polyastra and Ruby Ring were leading from Peshwa and Mixed Heather. Going round tho back Mixed Heather moved up. but fell at tho next fence. At the home turn Royal Heather was up with Polyastra and a good race ended in Matu coming fast on the outside and getting up to win by two lengths from Royal Heather, with Peshwa lour lengths away third, with Polyastra fourth. Time, 2.46 1-5.

TURAMOE HURDLE RACE. Of 175 sows. One and a half miles.

Going out of tho straight Good Sport made a had jump and dropped. San Fera, Comedy Prince and Santiago wore in the van round the (back, Brigadier Bill leading the others. Entering the straight the order was San Fera, Brigadier Bill, Santiago and Merry Singer. San Fera made a bad jump at the last fence and went right back. Santiago finished strongly and won by four lengths from Comedy Prince, with Brigadier Bill two lengths away third. Then came Merry Singer, Crown Co in and Good Sport were tha last to finish. Of 250 sovs. About 2j miles, 1 Mr. C. F. Vallance’s Sturdee, Advance—Roslyn (D. Warner), 10.1’3 1 2 Mr S. Cleaver’s Passin’ Through (F. Rennie), 11.9 2 4 Mr. S. Campbell’s Uncle Dave (A. McDonald), 9.0 3 Also started: 3 Woden 9.12, 3 Kovno 9.6, 5 Silent Dick 9.0. Sturdee went to the front from Kovno, Woden next. At the stand double Kovno fell heavily. Going round the back Sturdee led from Woden, Passin’ Through and Silent Dick, Uncle Dave last. Entering Ihe straight Sturdee still led from Woden and Passin’ Through. At the stand double Silent Dick fell. The last round saw Passin’ Through improve his position two lengths behind Sturdee. At the hencoop Woden fell and Passin’ Through hit hard, dropping back. Sturdee went on to win by five lengths from Passin’ Through, I ucle Dave was the only other to finish and was a long way hack. Time, 5.4 4-5.
