NEW ZEALAND CHAMPIONS TG COMPETE. BEEF AND DAIRY BREEDS 1 REPRESENTED. The Sydney Royal, the greatest autumn show of the Southern Hemisphere. promises this year to eclipse all previous fixtures, both in regard to number and quality of the entries. New Zealand has displayed great enterprise in sending forward no fe\ter than thirty-sin head of cattle, comprising beef Shorthorns, Aberdeen Angus, Jersey and Friesian breeds, representatives from Manawatu. AVellington, 'faranak/ Wairarapa and Hawke’s Bay in the North Island, and Canterbury and Otago in the South Island. The great team includes many noted provincial and Royal Show champions, and the excellent quality, and condition of the animals is expected to- do much to advertise the Dominion’s purebred , stock. .Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Co. Ltd., who arranged for this great display of famous New Zealand stock, report that apart from the thirty-six head mentioned, there wi-’l be several, other New Zealand-bred cattle competing. Thbse will he princinajlv Friesians and Jerseys, selected by Mr. C. E. Robertson, stud stock expert for the company mentioned, being orders filled,, during the past few months. . The’ Friesians will include the 1925 Christchurch Alotropolitan Show champion oow. Lily Last, bred by Mr. F. Crump. Springton, Canterbury, and two heifers and a rising two-year-old bull, bred by Mr. H. R. Green Kairanga, Manawatu, and all prize-winners at the Manawatu and Stratford spring shows. The Jerseys will include two yearling heifers, prize-winners at the Carterton and Royal Shows x bred by the wellknown exhibitor. .Mr. R. L. Horn. Ohau, and a snlondid cow purchased from Mr. J. O’Donnell, of Bunnythorpe. Twenty-nine cattle were shipped. by the s.s. Ulimaroa which sailed on Friday last, and the balance will to forward by the s.s. Maunganui this week. .Messrs C. E. Robertson (Wellington), L. W. Storry (Christchurch), Jas. Donald and R. Donald (Featherston), were passengers by the Ulimaroa who will attend the Sydney Royal Show. -Messrs Guv Bell (Oakura) and G. Buchanan (Masterton) will traVe* l;y the s.s. .Maunganui. The consignment is made up of five Friesian, one Jersey, nineteen heel Shorthorn and ten Aberdeen Angus males and females. The Friesians include Willowvale Galatea Segis, the champion and reserve champion respectively of thei 1921 and 1925 Royal Shows, and winner also of numerojis other championships. This groat cow is a famous producer as well as a show ring champion, and is just completing a record in the vicinity of 7001 b. fat. Tins cow and a choice yearling heifer were selected from the stud owned by Bloomfield Farm Company. Upper Hutt. Two splendid yearling bulls and a yearling heifer came from the “Oroua” Stud, owned ly Mr. A. Burgess, Rongotea. 'The jersey is the famous unbeaten threc-ycar-oid heifer. Pinewood’s Golden Beauty, bred by Mr. Guy 8011, Oakura, Taranaki. This was a sensational heifer as a yearling, last year as a two-year-old. and has again swept the boards at the Taranaki shows this season as a three-year-old. She is sired by the imported bull Viola’s Golden Laddie, bred by tiie famous American breeder, Mr. T. S. Cooper, of “Linden Giove.” Incidentally this bull sired the 1925 Royal Show champion cow, Viola-'s Queen Boss. The Shorthorns are the greatest i in number, and are a royally bred anu choice lot. Three bulls and six heifers are from Mr. L. \V. Storry’s Canterbury stud and comprise some of his Royal Show exhibits. The well-known Canterbury breeder, .Mr. Leonard White, has forwarded seven bulls. These also include Royal Show st<xik, among which the second prize yearling, Langley Proud Knight, is a very fine animal’. 'Three Royal Show winners comprise .Mr. D. Buchanan’s (Masterton) lot. They are a first prize two-year-old, and a first and third prize one-year-old. Ihe quality of the Aberdeen Angus cattle is excellent, and they are a feature of the shipment. A beautiful cow in Corkie oi Glenelg, from the stud of Mr. J. W. Ellingham, has the liunour of having won the championship at Dannevirke Show (one of the greatest Aberdeen Angus shows in the Dominion in 1925 and 1926). The 1926 champion bull at Dannevirke bred by Mr. Norman Gibbons, Palmer-' ston North, will also contest champion honours against some °l Australia’s best; A tliree-year-old heifer and two yearling heifers, all of outstanding quality, will represent tht stud owned by Mr. David Allan of Wellington. Mr. F. Armstrong, of Akitio, Dannevirke. is forwarding three three-year-old lilt bullocks, and Mr. J. Holden. Makotuky, Hawke’s Bay, is also consigning a fat bullock. With one exception the stock will be offered lor sale during the show. The exception being th e champion Jersey heder, which was selected for Dr. J. B. .Meredith oi Newcastle, at a record price lor a heifer of her age. The L’limaroa also had on board a valuable Hereiord bull, selected from die estate oi the late Ernest Short, Parorangi.
