On New Year’s Eve the Hastings Salvation Army Band will serenade in the street, commencing at 7 o'clock, and it is anticipating the usual liberal support of the public. The band is in creasing in numbers and is badly in need of more instruments and the [»rt given this Christmas season will materially assist in this purpose. The band has played no less than 258 times during the year in and around the borough, besides almost 200 indoor engagements. The bandmaster asks the public to help in their usual liberal style and so make further advancement possible. There will be a watch night service at the Hall on Thursday night, New Year’s Eve, commencing at 11.30 p.m.; also the services as usual on Sunday next. A cordial invitatiow is extended to these meetings.
