BATTLESHIPS DOOMED.
NEW NAVAL THEORY. London, Dec. 16. ‘The Star’s” naval correspondent believes that H.M.S. Rodney, which will be launched on Thursday, will be Britain’s last battleship. Experts, it is asserted, declare that when tho Washington agreement expires the battleship will be regarded as obsolete. The new school of naval thought believes that smaller ships designed for special purposes will provide a more efficient navy and one less liable to be seriously weakened by attrition. When Britain is free to resume b.- u ship building, the Admiralty Board will bo controlled by younger men, not wedded to the battleship, and who will decline to build them.
