FIRE DISASTER
HISTORIC SEAT DESTROYED. London, Dec. 25. A fire destroyed Hagley Hall, AVorcestershire. the four centuries old seat of Viscount Cobham, who accompanied by the family, a. house party and servants, were all forced to escape in their night attire. T’hc losses include books, tapestries, pictures and statuary dating from the time of Charles I. also busts of Shakespeare. Milton, Dryden and Spenser.— (Sydney “Sun” cable)A THEATRE HOLACAUST. Manila, Dee. 2G. Thirteen persons were killed and 100 injured when a theatre at Cebu was burned to the ground. The fire started in a film projection room. The audience became panicstricken and rushed the exits. Alany were burned as the flames spread, and others were trampled underfoot. An American with an axe cut an exit in the walls, saving the lives of several people.—(Reuter).’
