SEVENTY-ONE ON THE ROAD. | Wellington, Dec. 24. i Owing to the competition of ’buses. • the poliov of the tramway management < has been modified this year, and skele- ' ton services will be maintained by j either trams or City Council 'buses ; where the latter are in operation. To those who remember tho busless ; \\ ellington of two years ago, the pi*esent growth of motor-bus traffic is ar- ■ resting, says a Wellington paper. It ' is no effort to conjure up the days when there were not half-a-dozen buses <2ii the city streets —to-day there are 71, with eleven more coming soon. ' Sixty-one of those buses run into Weilington, and ton are owned by four •small firms in the Hutt Borough, and are used for odd service. At the head of the list of owners comes the Wellington Suburban Motor-bus Company, with fourteen buses.
