WELLINGTON FRUIT AND PRODUCE MARKETS. (Special to “Tribune.”) Wellington, Dec. 10. The Wellington fruitbrokers, comprising the firms of Laery and Co., Ltd.. Geo. Thomas and Co., Ltd., Thompson Bros., Ltd.. Townsend and Paul and D. Bowie and Co., report on the fruit and produce market as follows : Owing to heavy supplies of inferior grade fruit coming to hand values are lower. Fancy lines continue to meet with a good demand. The following prices are being realised for fancy grade :— Apples: Delicious 14/- to 15/-; Stunners 10/_ to 11/-; Jonathans 6/to 7/-; Doughertys (Hawke’s Bay) 7/to 8/-; Nelson 6/6 to 7/6; cookers, wanted. Pears: Winter Coles and Nelis 8/io 9/-: Vicars 5/- to 6/-; P. Barry 7/- to 8/-. Hothouse tomatoes: Hutt 1/3; Nelson Bid to- 1/- per lb. Hoti louse cucumbers: 8/- to 12/_ a dozen. Red currants: 5/- to 6/- a half case. Cherries: 5/- to 6/- per box. Strawberries: 9d to lOd per punnet. Peaches: (Hawke’s Bay) Mayflower 16/- to 17/-; Sneeds 7/- to 8/6. Miscellaneous: Gooseberries 3d to 3|d per lb; local lemons 12/- to 14/-; new potatoes 13/- to 14/- a cwt; giec/ peas. Nelson 16/- to 17/- per bag; eggs, fresh, 1/10 to 2/- 1/6: porkers 8d; asparagus 6/- to 7/- a dozen bunches. All poultry wanted. STORTFORD LODGE STOCK SALE MARKET EASIER. The Hawke’s Bay Stock Brokers’ Association report having held the weekly sale at Stdrtford Lodge yesterday, whero there was a. good yarding of both sheep and cattle, which were offered to a large attendance of the public. Th.e market was for nearly all classes of stock, many pens of both sheep and cattle being passer! in.
