The new board bf directors elected a 1 the recent annual meeting of the Hast ings T.M.C.A. held its first meeting a the rooms in Market street last Thursday evening.
The principal business was the election of officers for the ensuing year which was as follows:—President, M H. R. French; vice-president, Rev. II B. Hughes -, chairman, Mr H. Grainger treasurer. Mr G. Roach; recording sec rotary. Mr T. W. Smith ; membershj director. AL- G. Scott; religious work director. Rev. F. Bennetteducationa and social. Mr J. B. Lindsay; physica work, Mr J. Banks; junior department Rev. 11. B. Hughes.
The directors have decided on a jxil icy of “slow and sure’’ re-construction signs of which have been noticeahi during the past month when quite a number of the old members have re joined. There will be no special cam paigns for raising funds as the boan are confident that with the stimula tion of interest among the present and past members and the generous support of the sustaining and honorary men bers. the Association will, in a few months, demonstrate that its existenc for work among young men and bov is being carried out on thorough Y.M.C.A. and constitutional lines, and thus warrant its existence in and gain th< confidence of the community.
